8/10 Mike Mignola in Manhattan Beach, CA

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola will appear at the Comic Bug comics store in Manhattan Beach on August 10 to discuss and sign his new book, Hellboy: The Fury #3, the conclusion of a long storyline that Mignola began in 2007. The store will be offering a special exclusive art print, as well as prizes and free giveaways. The event takes place from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10 and is free to the public. The Comics Bug is located at 1807 Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Manhattan Beach , CA.

8/11-8/14 Wizard World Chicago Comic Con

On August 11-14, the 2011 Wizard World Chicago Comic Con will take place in Chicago and feature such guests as Greg Horn, Bill Sienkiewicz, Mike Grell and Humberto Ramos as well as pop culture icons such as Bruce Campbell, Vivaca Fox and James Marsters. Wizard World Chicago will be located at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center at 555 North River Road, Rosemont, IL. Hours are 5 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, 12 - 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $35 for a one day pass and $60 for a four day pass at the door, but have a $10 discount if ordered online, children 12 and under may enter free of charge with a paying adult.

8/12 Eduardo Risso Art Opening with Brian Azzarello & Dave Johnson in Chicago

Eduardo Risso, Brian Azzarello and Dave Johnson will appear at the opening of a new art exhibit showcasing Risso's art from his work with Azzarello on 100 Bullets, Batman and Johnny Double in Chicago at Challengers Comics. A special edition art print will be available for sale and all three creators will be signing at the event. The opening begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 7, and the exhibit runs from August 17 – September 5 in the Rogue's Gallery at Challengers Comics at 1845 N. Western Avenue, 2R, Chicago, IL.The event is open free to the public.

8/14 The Philadelphia Alternative Comic Con

The premier convention in Philadelphia showcasing all things alternative/fringe/indy/art comics and zines takes places at the Rotunda (4014 Walnut st.) August 14th from 12-7pm. Exhibitors include AdHouse Books, Secret Acres, Benjamin Marra, Box Brown, Corinne Mucha and more.Admission is $3. A pre party will be held the night before at at 6PM at Cha-Cha’Razzi. There, the inaugural Grawlix Awards will be presented.
