8/25 -8/28 Fan Expo Canada in Toronto

On August 25-28, the 2011 Fan Expo Canada will take place in Toronto and feature such guests as Joe, Andy and Adam Kubert, Jeff Smith, Matt Fraction and Jill Thompson. Fan Expo Canada will be located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre at 222 Bremner Boulevard, Toronto, ON, Canada. Hours are 4 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, 10 - 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday. One day tickets are $25 for 8/25, $30 for 8/26 and 8/28, $40 for 8/27 and a four day pass costs $79, children 12 and under may enter for $10 with a paying adult.

8/26 Evan Dorkin Book Discussion and Signing in New York

Beasts of Burden creator Evan Dorkin will appear at the downtown location of Midtown Comics in Manhattan on August 26 to discuss and sign Beasts of Burden:Animal Rites, which he co-created with Jill Thompson. The event is part of the store's monthly comics book club. The event takes place from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26 and is free to the publics. The downtown Midtown Comics is located at 64 Fulton Street, New York, NY.

8/29 Justice League #1 Flashboot Midnight Release Party in Orlando

Beginning at 9:30 p.m. on August 29, customers at A Comic Shop, Orlando's Eisner-nominated comic book store, will be invited to party anticipate the sale of the new, reimagined, Justice League #1 by Geoff Johns, which will go on sale in the store at midnight. The event is being promoted as a chance for new readers to launch themselves in the DC Universe with a bang. Free beer will be provided, so all guests must be over 21 with ID.

8/30 Anders Nilsen in Chicago

Big Questions creator Anders Nilsen will appear at Lula Cafe in Chicago, courtesy of Quimby's Bookstore, on August 30 to discuss and sign his new book. The event takes place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30 and is free to the publics. Lula Cafe is located at 2537 North Kedzie Boulevard, Chicago, IL.

9/2 Infinute Kung Fu Launch Party with Kagan McLeod & Hop Fu

Infinite Kung Fu creator Kagan McLeod will appear at Revival Bar in Toronto, on September 2, to celebrate the launch of Infinite Kung Fu. McLeod will discuss and sign his new books, courtesy of the comic store The Beguiling, as well as doing sketches for attendees and partying with the crowd. DJ 1XL and DJ Excess, performing as Hop Fu, will provide a live remixed funk score to a classic kung fu film. The event takes place at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 2 and is $5 to the general public, but free with a copy of Infinite Kung Fu. Revival Bar is located at 783 College Street, Toronto, ON, Canada.
