5/11 Kids Comic Con, Bronx, NY

Children, parents, teachers, and comic fans will be transported to a world of wondrous imagination, fun and learning as the KIDS COMIC CON 7 (KCC 7) rockets to earth at Bronx Community College from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The annual event's theme this year is Sci-Fact to Sci-Fiction, Where Creativity and Technology Meet. Guests include African artist Samba Ndar Cisse’, Dan Parent and a special mini Scholastic Book Fair.

5/11-5/12 Toronto Comics Arts Festival in Toronto, Canada

The Toronto Comics Arts Festival, a two day comics art festival celebrating independent comics, particularly of Canadian origin, will take place on May 11-12 at the Toronto Reference Library. The festival will feature a wide variety of guests and a full slate of panels and programming. Guests include comics creators as Dash Shaw, Francois Mouly, Taiyu Matsumoto, Bryan Lee O'Malley, Gilbert Hernandez, Raina Telgemeier and Paul Pope among many others. The festival is open from 9-5 on Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday and admission is free. The Toronto Reference Library is located at 789 Yonge Street, Toronto, Canada.

5/11 Comics From Tahrir Square

World War 3 presents a conversation with Egyptian cartoonist Magdy El Shafee who gives a presentation via live Skype from Cairo talking about the new movement of cartoonists that has emerged from the Arab spring, about the changing situation in Egypt, about his own case and his own art. El Shafee will be interviewed by Peter Kuper and Seth Tobocman, co-founders of World War 3 Illustrated. All are welcome, admission is free. The event takes place at School of Visual Arts, 209 East 23rd street, 3rd floor, room 311.
