BiblioBoard, an app and e-publishing platform that allows libraries and third party vendors to offer free or for-pay access to bundles of content, is teaming with comics publisher Bluewater Productions to offer 750 graphic novels via the platform. Bluewater is best known for its line of quickly produced comics biographies of political and pop culture figures.
The BiblioBoard digital publishing platform targets libraries by offering them the ability to bundle content in digital anthologies and offer them for sale or for free access to patrons. The app also allows third party vendors to offer content for sale.
Bluewater Productions is based in Vancouver, Washington and produces a well-known line of comics biographies of such political figures as Barack Obama, Caroline Kennedy and Sarah Palin, celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Mark Zuckerberg, and pop culture figures such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. The company also works to adapt the work of popular novelists—among them Julie Kagawa (The Iron Fey), William F. Nolan (Logan’ Run) and John Saul (Blackstone Chronicles)—into graphic novels.
Darren Davis, publisher and president of Bluewater Productions, said the new deal will make it easier for librarians to purchase his content. “I was a library kid growing up and to see how they are embracing digital content makes me thrilled. Libraries have always been a huge part of our outreach because of the positive impact they make on communities.”
Mitchell Davis, Founder & Chief Business Officer behind BiblioBoard described Bluewater Productions as “young, innovative, and have stirred up a ton of buzz with their fresh content. Bluewater creates modern content that patrons are demanding and we’ve created the modern platform that patrons expect. Seemed like the perfect fit.”
