Humble Bundle, the pay-what-you-wish online venture that distributes bundles of DRM-free digital content, is launching two separate bundles in celebration of the opening of Comic-Con International: San Diego this week. Humble Bundle is teaming with Skybound, the Image Comics imprint founded by Robert Kirkman, to release a bundle of comics, and IDW Publishing will release a bundle of its Transformers comics.
The two Comic-Con bundles include a selection of comics by Kirkman, best known for creating wildly popular Walking Dead comics and TV series. Skybound’s Walking Dead Bundle will offer as many nine graphic novels, including collections of the Walking Dead and such other Kirkman creations such as Invincible, Thief of Thieves, Super Dinosaur and others. Consumers can pay what the wish for a basic bundle of five titles or pay more than the average donation and unlock much more content.
IDW’s Humble Transformer Bundle offers a basic bundle of four volumes of Transformer classics and access to up to nine more volumes of digital Transformers comics if they pay more the average donation. Titles include Transformers: All Hail Megatron, Transformers: Autocracy, Transformers: Spotlight, Transformers: Robots in Disguise and more.
Humble Bundle releases allow consumers to decide what they want to pay for the digital bundles and the considerable proceeds are divided between the artists, the publisher, Humble Bundle and a selection of charities. For these two Bundles Humble Bundle is featuring the Common Cents, which supports service programs for young people, and both the Rett Syndrome Research Trust and the IndieCade Foundation, which supports indie game development. Humble Bundle is also featuring The Hasbro Children’s Fund.
Humble Bundles have raised more than $40 million in support of charities since the site launched in 2010.
