Longtime comics professional Jim Sokolowski, formerly an executive at Marvel, DC, and Archie Comics, has been named v-p and associate publisher at the independent comics house Dynamite Entertainment.
In addition, Nick Prentz, formerly a graphic designer at Diamond Comics Distributors, has been hired as part of the Dynamite design team.
Sokolowski brings wide experience in sales, circulation and business development in the comics shop market to the Dynamite team. From 2004 to 2008 he was executive director of publishing operations at DC Comics, before joining Marvel, where he was chief operating officer/publishing until 2011. In 2012 Sokolowski was named senior v-p, sales & business development at Archie Comics where he worked until 2015, when he rejoined DC Entertainment as v-p, comic book specialty & newsstand sales. He left DC again in November 2020 after the company’s recent reorganization.
Sokolowski said “looking at the entire publishing library that Dynamite has, from comics to prose, retrospective books, instructional and art books, and so much more, this is a new challenge that I'm looking forward to.”
Dynamite Entertainment CEO and publisher Nick Barrucci praised Sokolowski’s “knowledge of not only the comics industry, but the book and magazine industry, accumulated through decades of experience. His track record speaks for itself as he helped grow and strengthen the publishers he's worked with. We're very fortunate to have him join the team.”
