NYCC Pro Sign-up Extended
New York Comic Con has extended the complimentary registration for professional creators. The new deadline is December 1; applications will be reviewed and passes issued before January 1. Professionals who do not register before the complimentary deadline, must obtain a pass through their publisher or purchase one. Registration is available through the NYCC website. NYCC will be held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City February 6-8.

GN Project Update
An update on the progress of the “Graphic Novelist Project” was posted on Seth Kushner’s blog. The project, tentatively titled Graphic NYC: Creating Comics in Gotham, spotlights cartoonists working in New York City. Out of the 50 cartoonist, Kushner has photographed 41 of the, and Kushner’s co-author, Christopher Irving, is conducting interviews of the cartoonists. Kushner has posted a few photographs and layouts of the interviews on his blog.

Star Trek ComicTie-in
IDW is publishing a four issue comic series, Star Trek: Countdown, that ties in with next summer’s Star Trek movie. The IDW comic series is in collaboration with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Kurtzman/ Orci Productions, and CBS Consumer Products. Star Trek: Countdown #1 will be released in January 2009; the comic was scripted by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, and the art is by David Messina.

Fantagraphics’ Store Anniversary
To celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of the Fantagraphics’ Bookstore and Gallery, a party will be held at the store on Saturday December 13th from 6 to 9 pm. The party will also serve as a release party for Beasts Book 2, as well as the Beasts Book 1 paperback, and there will be an exhibit of work from forty-five of the contributors from both Beasts volumes. The exhibit will remain up through January 10. The Fantagraphics’ Bookstore and Gallery is located at 1201 South Vale Street in Seattle, Washington.
