Magnolia Table, the cookbook by the star of HGTV mega-hit Fixer Upper, Joanna Gaines, sold more than 169,000 copies in its first week on sale, according to NPD BookScan, which tracks roughly 80% of print sales.
The book, released by William Morrow Cookbooks on April 24, hit #1 on the overall list, according to BookScan, trumping Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo and James Comey’s A Higher Loyalty.
For comparison, the bestselling cookbooks of the last two years, 2017’s Pioneer Woman Cooks: Come and Get It by Ree Drummond, and Ina Garten’s 2016 book Cooking for Jeffrey, sold 100,000 and 110,000 copies, respectively, in their first weeks on sale.
Magnolia Table also held firm in the #1 spot on Amazon during its first week, besting A Higher Loyalty.
Liate Stehlik, president and publisher of Morrow Group said the published is "thrilled" with sales, and has "several reprints in the works to help keep up with the demand."
In addition to starring on Fixer Upper (which went off the air in April) alongside husband Chip Gaines, in February, the couple opened a restaurant, also called Magnolia Table, in their hometown of Waco, Tex.
