Total revenue at Quarto held even at £19.9 million ($30.7 million) for the first quarter ended March 31 and operating profit rose 14%, to £288,000. Chairman Laurence Orbach called the results "encouraging" and noted that business in the U.K.-based publisher's major English-language markets is improving. Co-edition sales to major Eurozone economies are tougher, he said. Overall, Orbach said the company is "cautiously optimistic that the picture will continue to improve."
