Scribner has signed Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband, Navy captain and astronaut Mark Kelly, to a write a joint memoir about their lives together. Scribner executive v-p and publisher Susan Moldow and senior v-p and editor-in-chief Nan Graham acquired world and audio rights from attorney Bob Barnett. Graham will edit the memoir which does not yet have a pub date.
According to Scribner, the memoir will recount the couple’s courtship, Giffords’ rise in politics and the shooting in Tucson that seriously wounded the congresswoman while leaving six dead. Her battle to recover from the shooting as well as Kelly’s recent mission as the commander of Endeavour will also be part of the memoir. Jeffrey Zaslow, who was the co-author of The Last Lecture, will work with Giffords and Kelly on the book.
