When Thomas Nelson and AuthorSolutions established the WestBow Press self-publishing division in 2009 the idea was that the unit would provide a testing ground for aspiring authors. Yesterday, Nelson acquired its first WestBow adult title, signing Marcia Moston’s Call of a Coward for publication next summer in trade paperback. Coward had won the 2010 Women of Faith Writing Contest.
Matt Baugher, senior v-p and publisher for Thomas Nelson, acquired the title and Coward be edited by senior editor Adria Haley. Baugher said that the book will go through Nelson’s normal editorial process, similar to any manuscript that it acquires, but added that “the book is in great shape and our plans at this time are to keep the title as well. We're thrilled with Marcia's prose and her remarkable story."
“We were impressed by Marcia’s title from the moment we discovered it through the Women of Faith Writing Contest. We monitored her book after being published through WestBow Press; the early record of its success provided a great opportunity for trade distribution through Thomas Nelson,” said Mark Schoenwald, Thomas Nelson president and CEO in a statement.
