Launched in late May under the direction of former IPG president Mark Suchomel, the Legato Publishers Group, a new unit at the Perseus Group’s PGW distribution subsidiary, announced the signing of 20 publisher distribution clients. After his surprise departure from IPG in March, Suchomel was named to head LPG and these 20 publishers are its first clients. LPG has plans to grow its list of distribution clients to 30 or 40 publishers over the next two years.
Among LPG’s founding clients are Amherst Media, Visible Ink Press, ECW Books, Medallion Media Group, Nomad Press and Buffalo Media Works. LPG will begin distributing the books of Buffalo Media Works immediately, while distribution of the remaining publishers will begin January 1, 2014. A number of clients, including Mediallion Press and ECW, are some of IPG's biggest publishers.
Described as a “boutique publisher services organization” focused on independent publishers, the Legato Publishers Group is based in Chicago, Ill.
