Hanover Publisher Services, a small press distribution unit run by Steerforth Press, is adding U.K.-based publisher Pushkin Press as a distribution client via Random House Publisher Services. Pushkin’s books will be available to the North American book trade and other specific territories exclusively through RHPS beginning in July 2014.
HPS is a sister company to Steerforth Press and works with Steerforth’s primary distributor, RHPS, which must approve all its new clients. HPS has a multiyear agreement to manage the sales and distribution of Pushkin Press titles. Hanover Publisher Services’ current distribution clients include Archipelago Books of Brooklyn; Campfire Graphic Novels of New Delhi, India, New Europe Books of Williamstown, Mass. and Steerforth Press of Hanover, N.H.
Adam Freudenheim is publisher and managing director at Pushkin Press, and Stephanie Seegmuller is associate publisher and COO.
Founded in England in 1997, Pushkin Press publishes novels, memoirs and children’s books. In its first season distributed by HPS, Pushkin will publish about 16 titles, including paperback reprints, three original works and 10 children’s titles under its Pushkin Children’s Books imprint. The company’s titles were previously distributed by Consortium Book and Sales.
Freudenheim said Pushkin has hired Brittney Inman Canty as a part-time publicist based in New York, to work on promotng Pushkin titles in the North American market.
“We are delighted to be moving our distribution to Hanover Publishing Services and Random House at a time when we are expanding on all fronts, publishing more books – both contemporary and classic – and with the introduction of a new children's imprint, Pushkin Children’s Books,” Freudenheim said.
