London-based communications and PR agency Midas has announced its expansion into the U.S. and is rebranding as Midas Group to reflect this growth. The U.S. division will be run by Katharine Myers, formerly senior director of publicity at Little, Brown, who has been named deputy managing director of Midas U.S.
Over her 25-year-long career, Myers has worked with numerous bestselling authors, including Elin Hilderbrand, David Sedaris, and Emma Donoghue. "I'm beyond thrilled to join the team and bring the expertise and collaborative PR experience that Midas is known for to the U.S.," Myers said in a statement. In her new position, she will continue to work with Little, Brown authors Elin Hilderbrand and Amir Tibon, as well as Dutton author Michael Joseph Gross. In addition, the company already works with Bookshop.org, the Financial Times Bracken Prize, and the Windham Campbell Prize in the U.S.
Midas CEO Jason Bartholomew said the move into the U.S. follows inquiries from its U.K. clients about handling public relations in America. After speaking with U.S.-based publishers, literary agents, trade media, and freelance publicists Midas determined opening a U.S. office was an investment worth pursuing, Bartholomew said.
The Midas Group now encompasses three connected businesses: Midas UK (including PR and Marketing/Digital teams), Midas US, and The bks Agency.
"We are ambitious in our growth plans, and, in due course, we will be offering the same services as Midas UK -- PR, Marketing and Digital work on behalf of authors and creative clients," Bartholomew said.
