Crown Publishing Group has named Dana Perino, former White House press secretary under President George W. Bush and now a communications strategist and Fox News contributor, as editorial director of Crown Forum, the group’s conservative books imprint. Perino will recommend, initiate, and submit exclusively to Crown Forum six to eight nonfiction book projects each year, to be written by conservative political or media personalities. She will also be involved in promotional campaigns for some Crown Forum titles.
Perino served as a communications strategist for Crown's publication of George W. Bush’s Decision Points and for Scribner’s 2010 publication of Laura Bush's Spoken From the Heart. In her new role, she will collaborate closely with Tina Constable, svp, Crown Forum, and with Sean Desmond, who has been promoted to executive editor, Crown Forum. Desmond, who has edited titles from a number of well-known conservative authors, will also continue to acquire and edit political, current affairs, and historical books for the Crown trade list, for which he recently edited Decision Points.
Perino will remain as president of her strategic communications company, Dana Perino and Company, and will work from her offices in Washington D.C., with frequent visits to New York.
