Brad Martin has announced that Robert Wheaton, formerly of Indigo Books and Music, will join Random House of Canada overseeing the digital department in the new role of v-p, strategic digital business development.
Tom Dussel will be joining Penguin Group (USA) as the new director of subsidiary rights, responsible for the Putnam, Berkley, Portfolio, Tarcher, Avery and Perigee lists. Dussel has spent the last ten years working at Simon & Schuster Inc., selling foreign and domestic rights for the Free Press, Scribner and Howard Books imprints.
The Random House, Inc. International Sales group under Cyrus Kheradi, senior v-p, director, international sales and marketing, is enhancing its presence in East Asia with several new hires and promotions:
John Sakal is appointed regional sales director, Random House, Inc. Sakal's anticipated start date is November 28. He has been president, Planetdash Media LLC, an Asian-centric wholesaler of English-language titles. Sakal succeeds Rino Balatbat.
Mindy Chon is named regional sales manager, Eat Asia, covering Hong Kong, Taiwan, and, in January, South Korea, taking over for Katherine Lee. She has been RH’s international sales operations manager in New York since July 2010.
Akiko Iwamoto, regional sales manager, based in Tokyo, in January will newly focus on Japan. Eve Zhang will be a new member of the RH international sales team, based in Beijing.
