Charlie Redmayne is leaving his post as executive v-p and chief digital officer of HarperCollins to assume the role of CEO of Pottermore, J.K. Rowling’s new online reading experience. Redmanye, who had been in his HC role for more than three years, succeeds Rod Henwood who Pottermore described as “interim launch CEO.” The appointment of Redmayne, the Pottermore release said, “marks the next phase of the project, requiring the engagement of a permanent CEO to fulfill its exciting future prospects.”
The startup recently announced that it was delaying the release of Harry Potter e-books, originally set for this fall, until 2012.
Redmayne starts at Pottermore November 7. HC said that until a replacement is named Larry Nevins, executive v-p, operations and technology, will oversee the digital group.
