Zondervan has appointed Tracy Danz as v-p and publisher of its Trade Group, reporting to Annette Bourland, who has been promoted to senior v-p and publisher for the Trade Group and for Zonderkidz, the children’s division. Danz replaces Dudley Delffs, who left the company more than a year ago at the time Moe Girkins resigned as president and CEO. Bourland’s position is a new one.

Danz has been with Zondervan for 20 years, most recently as v-p of product sales. He has served on the house’s publishing boards and played a key role in persuading the New York Times to incorporate Christian marketplace sales data in compiling its bestsellers lists. Danz began his 30-year career in the book business as a Christian retailer before joining Random House, then moving to HarperCollins for five years before joining Zondervan.

In his new role, Danz will oversee Zondervan’s trade acquisitions and its editorial teams, setting editorial vision and strategies; spearheading new product development; directing sales and marketing; and managing strategic relationships.

Bourland joined Zondervan in 2007 as v-p and publisher for Zonderkidz and later joined the leadership team in developing corporate strategy. She was previously at Focus on the Family for 12 years, managing the organization’s children’s publications.
