Effective March 21, 2012, Andy Mayer will retire from becker&mayer! Books, and from his role as publisher of Epic Ink. Mayer and Jim Becker founded becker&mayer! more than 30 years ago. The company has grown from a two-man operation to having more than 60 employees with three divisions: becker&mayer book producers, SmartLab Toys, and Epic Ink Books.
Becker continues on at becker&mayer! in his current role as president and publisher, and will continue to work closely with parent company, The McEvoy Group. In February 2005, becker&mayer! was acquired by the San Francisco-based McEvoy Group, which also owns several media companies, including Chronicle Books.
