Vegan ultrarunning champion Scott Jurek, star of Christopher McDougall’s bestselling Born to Run, will celebrate the release of his own memoir, Eat & Run (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), by running all 31 miles (50K) around Manhattan the morning of the book’s publication date: June 5. McDougall and Peter Sarsgaard, who is directing the Born to Run movie, are among those who will be joining Jurek for portions of this celebratory run.
Jurek will begin the run at 5 a.m. from the Robert Moses Playground, south of the UN, and the route will follow north, in a counter-clockwise direction (see map here). He will finish at Bryant Park around noon, where his 1st official book tour event will kick off at 12:30.
Members of the public are invited to join Jurek at any point along the way for a few miles or more, and can track where he is live via MapMyRun. Mile by mile location updates will be made to Jurek’s Facebook page and Twitter feed (@ScottJurek).
