Madeline McIntosh, who rejoined Random House from Amazon in 2009, has been promoted to chief operating officer effective immediately. McIntosh has been president, sales, operations and digital, responsible for RH’s digital and print sales, operations, fulfillment, IT, corporate digital product development, corporate marketing development, audio and travel publishing, and third-party distribution, areas she will continue to oversee.
In his memo announcing her promotion, RH chairman Markus Dohle said McIntosh’s promotion was in “recognition of her exceptional leadership and many accomplishments in core areas of our business.” Dohle added: “Madeline personally embodies in so many respects the values that we as a company hold high: She is a transparent and clear communicator; she is dedicated to teamwork and collaboration; and she combines a passion for books and publishing with pragmatic business expertise and the highest integrity.”
