Reviews director Louisa Ermelino has been promoted to the position of vice president at Publishers Weekly. She has been at PW since 2005 and will continue in her role as reviews director and take on additional responsibilities as a member of the magazine’s executive committee.
As well as managing the PW reviews staff and maintaining a roster of 450 book reviewers, she edits the reviews section of the magazine and Web site, overseeing nearly 9,000 PW reviews per year, as well as author interviews, profiles and review-related features.
“I am both gratified and excited at this vote of confidence and look forward to being part of the executive committee as PW continues to advance its position in the publishing industry,” says Ermelino from her PW office in Manhattan.
“Louisa is a vibrant presence within Publishers Weekly, guiding thousands of reviews to fruition each year. Very few people in the world have as broad a perspective on new titles as she does,” says George Slowik, Jr., president and CEO of Publishers Weekly. “As vice president, she contributes a valuable perspective to the executive level.”
Ermelino is the author of three novels, The Black Madonna and The Sisters Mallone, both published by Simon & Schuster, and Joey Dee Gets Wise (St. Martin’s Press).
