Judith Rosen, one of PW's major contributors for more than 30 years, is stepping back from fulltime duty with her last day as bookselling editor and New England correspondent today. During her tenure at PW, Rosen was a fixture at every major bookselling event, be it Winter Institute, Children's Institute, BookExpo America (and before that the ABA convention), fall regional shows, and CAMEX. It would be difficult to find many people who know more about, or cared more about, bookselling issues than Rosen. Her knowledge of New England bookselling and publishing has long been a major asset for PW.
Rosen will continue at PW as a contributing editor. She will be at this year's Children's Institute and CAMEX and will contribute articles to the magazine as well as to PW's newsletters. She will also oversee our Bookstore of the Year and Rep of the Year awards and serve as assistant editor on PW's BookExpo Show Daily.
Taking over Rosen's bookselling duties is Ed Nawotka who returns to PW after starting Publishing Perspectives for which he served as editor-in-chief. In his previous stint at PW bookselling was one of the beats covered by Nawotka. In addition to overseeing bookselling, Nawotka has been named international editor and will work to expand our worldwide publishing coverage.
PW's new New England correspondent is Alex Green. Green was the founder and owner of Back Pages Books from 2005-15, an independent bookstore outside of Boston. He has written for numerous publications including The Atlantic and Boston.com and is a regular opinion contributor to NPR's Boston affiliate, WBUR.
In a new hiring that doesn't involve replacing Rosen, Emma Kantor has joined the children’s department as associate children’s book editor. She was previously publicity and digital content manager at the Children's Book Council and Every Child a Reader.
