Joel Fotinos, v-p and publisher of Penguin Random House's TarcherPerigee imprint, is leaving the position after 21 years. Penguin Publishing Group president Madeline McIntosh announced the decision in a company-wide email, calling Fotinos "a great and valued member of the Penguin family" who will leave behind "a wonderful legacy of great books and financial stability" for the imprint.
With Fotinos' departure, McIntosh named Megan Newman as the new publisher of TarcherPerigee, which publishes books on self-improvement, spirituality and more. Newman will continue to serve as publisher of PRH's Avery imprint, which publishes nonfiction in categories such as health, science, and psychology. Despite her new role, both imprints will continue to operate as independent editorial entities.
Fotinos told PW Tarcher is "in a very strong and profitable place."
"It was time for me to see what my next chapter would be," he said. "I do want to stay in publishing, and hope to announce something soon."
