Berrett-Koehler Publishers announced that its board of directors has selected a new CEO/CFO as well as a new president and publisher. David Marshall, v-p of editorial and digital at BK, has been named CEO/CFO. Johanna Vondeling, v-p for international sales and business development at the company, has been named president/publisher.
The promotions, which will take effect on May 1, are the result of founder Steve Piersanti's decision to step down as president, CEO, and publisher of BK. He will lead the transition process and will remain a full-time acquisition editor, according to the publisher.
In his new role, Marshall "will provide overall executive and financial leadership for BK," as well as for its new online training business, according to a release. Vondeling "will oversee the editorial, design and production, sales and marketing, and other areas of its book publishing."
"This transition is not easy for me, after many years leading BK, but I am confident that David and Johanna will provide the leadership needed to take BK to new heights, and I’ll be able to focus my full attention on the editorial work that I do best," Piersanti said in a statement.
