Rumors circulating at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that former IDW editor-in-chief Jamie Rich and former Boom! president Filip Sablik were headed to a new comics and graphic novel publishing startup were confirmed this week. Film and television producer Eric Gitter has formed a new, as-yet-unnamed publishing outfit, naming the two industry vets to top positions.
Sablik has been appointed publisher of the publisher, while Rich has been tapped as editor-in-chief. In addition, Jeremy Haun, the comic book writer and artist, has been named creative director. Prior to joining Boom!, Sablik worked at Diamond Comic Distributors and Top Cow, while Rich has been in comics publishing for 30 years, working at such DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, and Tapas Media.
Gitter, a film and television producer, is best known for adapting comic books to the screen. Among his adaptations are Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Atomic Blonde, and the Extraction franchise based on the graphic novel Ciudad.
All other details about the new company, including its name, will be released at a later date.
