Carrie Bloxson has been appointed chief human resources officers at Hachette Book Group, leading talent development, recruitment, retention, training, office culture, business processes, and more for the company. Bloxson, who was previously SVP of culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion at HBG and Hachette UK, will continue to lead all DEI strategies for both HBG and Hachette UK and oversee HBG and HUK's Changing the Story initiative in her new role. She will also serve as a member of each company's executive management board.
Bloxson succeeds HBG's current SVP of human resources, Andrea Weinzimer, who is leaving at the end of the year. Weinzimer has been with HBG for nearly 20 years, having served as VP of human resources at Time Warner Book Group from 2003 until its acquisition by HBG in 2006 and in her current role since then. At Hachette UK, Lisa Waterman has served as HR director since 2019.
Prior to her promotion in April to SVP of culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion at HBG and HUK, Bloxson was HBG's inaugural VP and chief diversity officer. Before joining Hachette, Bloxson was interim CEO and chief marketing officer at DoSomething.org, and prior to that spent six years as VP of marketing for HarperCollins.
“Carrie Bloxson is one of the superstars of our industry,” said Shelley, in a statement. “She has made an enormous impact in the last three years at Hachette Book Group, particularly in advancing our DEI initiatives, and in her new role will be even more instrumental in evolving our culture and in helping us achieve our mission as a company.”
“I’m honored to take on this new role, focusing on developing talent, fostering inclusion, and shaping a culture that reflects and advances our mission in meaningful ways,” said Bloxson, in a statement. “I look forward leading HBG’s recruitment, professional development, and retention efforts to positively impact employee relations and wellness.”
