Trident Media Group CEO and cofounder Dan Strone will depart from the agency on February 7. Trident chair and cofounder Robert Gottlieb told PW that he has taken over Strone's office responsibilities, and that Strone's departure otherwise "does not impact our firm."
Strone and Gottlieb left William Morris Agency to cofound Trident in 2000. In his quarter-century-long tenure as CEO of the firm, he has worked with such authors as Christie Brinkley, Stephen Colbert, Jerry Seinfeld, and Jon Stewart.
The CEO's departure marks the second major change to Trident's top brass in past three months. In December 2024, Mark Gottlieb was made SVP at the agency. Mark, who is Robert's son, joined the firm in 2010 as a literary agent, and was made VP in 2022.
Strone told PW that he is "open to any interesting opportunities" that would enable him to do what he feels he does best: "working with talent." He said that he hasn't ruled anything out, from striking out on his own to joining a "big agency that represents big talent," noting that "a lot of higher-end talent is represented by a small group of agencies and management companies." Wherever he lands, Strone said, he is "excited about the future."
He added that he can be reached at dastrone@gmail.com and 917-685-0000.
This story mistakenly reported that Mark Gottlieb joined the Trident Media Group in 2015. He joined in 2010.
