HarperCollins has named Lisa Sharkey to the newly created position of senior v-p/director of creative development, effectively making her the successor to Judith Regan. Sharkey will be charged with acquiring current events- and personality-driven books and working with all publishers to position authors for maximum television exposure. Although Sharkey is taking over the role held by Regan, she will not have her own imprint, but will acquire books for all general book imprints. She reports to Michael Morrison, president and group publisher, Harper/Morrow.

Prior to joining HC, Sharkey was president of Al Roker Entertainment, and had been senior producer for ABC's Good Morning America.
