Hachette Book Group has added a new feature to its Web site. OpenAccess will allow readers to see all of a book’s content from a selected group of titles, which will be drawn from the company’s backlist, frontlist and forthcoming books. The goal, HBG said, is to build buzz for new books and to allow readers to find backlist books by giving them the chance to browse through a book. Books will appear in OpenAccess for 30 days and then will be replaced with a new list.

Titles in OpenAccess come from all Hachette imprints and in a range of formats. Titles only appear with the permission of the author. Readers who want to buy a book will be directed to different outlets, although HBG is said to be working on adding an e-commerce capability to its site.
