It’s the time of the year for lists and the online book marketplace AbeBooks has created a few of its own. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People was the bestselling used book on AbeBooks.com in 2007, followed by Eat, Pray, Love, The Purpose Driven Life, The Kite Runner, and The Pillars of the Earth.
The Seven Habits was also the bestselling book overall (new and used combined), while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone came in second and third. J.K. Rowling was the bestselling author on Abe, trailed by Nora Roberts, William Shakespeare, James Patterson, and C.S. Lewis. The best selling signed books were A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and Heart-Shaped Box by Joe King.
And the most expensive book sold on Abe last year was Supplementum summae Pisanellae by Nikolaus Osimo which went for $24,941. Supplementum is the major theological work of Nicholas de Osimo from 1479. It includes a collection of anti-Semitic church laws. Osimo was a lawyer and theologian, who joined the Franciscans and was appointed prefect of the Holy Land. According to Abe, the book that sold is the first known printed edition
