Baker & Taylor has signed an agreement with R.R. Donnelley that calls for Donnelley to establish and manage a print-on-demand center in B&T’s Momence, Ill. distribution facility. The deal with Donnelley is the fourth B&T has made over the last few months to establish a digital distribution capability. The agreement with Donnelley, “rounds out our digital product line,” said Bob Nelson, executive v-p of global business development for B&T.
The Momence print-on-demand center is set to open in September and will combine with other Donnelley digital and bind capabilities to offer POD services worldwide. “We look forward to putting our new digital print delivery model to work for Baker & Taylor,” said Donnelley CEO Thomas Quinlan. Nelson said the POD component is the final piece in building B&T’s digital infrastructure that will allow the wholesaler to deliver content to customers in print or digital form.
Previous deals were signed with OverDrive, LibreDigital and ebrary. The digital operations are housed in B&T’s newly formed Digital Media Services Group.
