David (Skip) Prichard has been named to succeed Jim Chandler as president and CEO of Ingram Book Group. Prichard, formerly president and CEO of ProQuest Information and Learning, joined Ingram last July as chief operating officer. According to Ingram Book Group chairman John Ingram, Prichard’s appointment completes a succession process that began when the company recruited Prichard to the wholesaler last year. “Two years ago, Jim and I started planning for this transition,” John Ingram said. “We were lucky enough to recruit Skip last year, and now it’s time to proceed with our transition plan.”

Chandler was promoted to Ingram Book CEO in 2004 and helped expand the company’s operations into new fields. Key initiatives included the creation of Ingram Publisher Services and the acquisition of the academic library company Coutts Information Services. He will remain an advisor to the company.

As CEO, Prichard will oversee the various Ingram Book divisions, which include Ingram Book Company, IPS, Coutts, Ingram Library Services, Ingram Periodicals, and Ingram International. He will also work with the heads of Ingram subsidiaries Lightning Source and Ingram Digital.
