Alumni of Dalkey Archives Press and Ecco are teaming up for a a new publishing venture at the University of Rochester in New York, Open Letter, dedicated to international literature including works in translation.
"We are focusing on twentieth- and twenty-first century literature from around the world—cosmopolitan literature, books that stimulate and provoke readers, and which we hope will be read for generations to come," said Open Letter director Chad W. Post, formerly Associate Director of contemporary international literature publisher at Dalkey Archives Press.
Also on the staff of three will be former Assistant Editor at Ecco E.J. Van Lanen, and Dalkey’s former Marketing and Production Director Nathan Furl.
The press will publish 12 titles a year, beginning in fall 2008. Their initial list will include the novels Nobody’s Home by Yugoslavian/Croatian writer Dubravka Ugresic and The Pets by Icelandic writer and former bassit for the Sugarcubes (Björk's first band) Bragi Ólafsson.
