The deal between Springer and CreateSpace brought to light a change being made by CreateSpace’s parent company, Amazon. In November the company began integrating the print-on-demand functions of BookSurge into CreateSpace, which had focused primarily on supplying tools for self-publishers. The move will make CreateSpace the single platform for all BookSurge and CreateSpace authors and publishers. According to the CreateSpace Web site, “during the coming months we will be transitioning all BookSurge accounts to CreateSpace, after which the BookSurge brand will be retired.”
A company spokesperson said that BookSurge’s offices will remain opened..” The only change for BookSurge and CreateSpace employees is that they will simply be serving all of our members under the CreateSpace brand using the same platform,” the spokesperson said. The integration will add new benefits for both authors and publishers, Amazon said.
