Publishers continue to marry e-books with information on the H1N1 epidemic. Little, Brown announced Monday that it will publish its first e-book only update December 1 when it makes available a 2,000-word piece on the subject in it’s The Vaccine Book, written by Dr. Robert Sears and first published in October 2007. In the e-book exclusive, Dr. Sears has updated the flu chapter of The Vaccine Book to contain the latest information about this year’s H1N1 and seasonal flu diseases and vaccines. The updated e-book will be priced at $13.99, the same price as the print edition.
There are no plans at present to do a new print edition of Vaccine with the update include. LB will promote the e-book edition of Vaccine in its marketing efforts for Dr. William Sears's new book, Prime-Time Health, and the publisher's online marketing team will Tweeter about the e-book and get in touch with bloggers. E-tailers will be supplied with banners.
In October, John Wiley released The Swine-Flu: The New Pandemic by Dr. Marc Siegel as its first e-book only trade book in a bid to get the most recent information on the topic out to readers as quickly as possible.
