The Perseus Books Group has added two new e-book retailers to its Constellation digital services program: Barnes & Noble and Shortcovers. The company also introduced new elements to its digital short print run service, such as the ability to strip and rebind hardcovers, and print in the U.K.

Constellation, which launched in September 2008, provides digital services to independent publishers, including online marketing and sampling, e-book distribution and sales, short print runs, and print on demand. There are currently more than 100 publishers in the program. Barnes & Noble.com president William J. Lynch Jr. said, “We are pleased to be working with Perseus and their Constellation program to help independent publishers make books available on our new Nook e-book reader.”

Perseus president and CEO David Steinberger said the company will continue to adapt Constellation to include a wider set of services “as the digital landscape develops.”
