Random House has added two newsignificant distribution clients in the last week. Beacon Press is shifting itsdistribution from Houghton Mifflin to Random House Publisher Services effectiveJuly 1, 2010. when it will launch Beacon's fall 2010 list. As part of the agreement, Random House of Canada will begin distributing BeaconPress on January 1, 2011. Random House will also assume responsibility forBeacon's titles in all English language markets, maintaining distribution viaPGUK in the U.K. Random House also will handle digital distribution forBeacon's e-book and digital audio program. HM will accept returns untilSeptember 30, 2010.
Brooklyn based-independent publisher powerHouse Books, which specializes in books on art, photography and urban street culture, is switching its sales representation and distribution to Random House Publisher Services effective June 1.
PowerHouse sales director Wes Del Val said the house was previously distributed by Perseus Distribution and its sales representation was formerly by Continental Sales Inc. powerHouse has a backlist of about 350 titles and will publish about 20 titles in the fall.
