The Hachette UK’s Octopus Publishing Group is reorganizing its operations to focus on areas of strength and as part of the restructuring will close Octopus Books USA which includes the marketing and publicity team of Jonathan Stolper (v-p, associate publisher of Octopus USA) and Andrea Glickson (director of publicity and marketing). The U.K.-originated titles from Octopus will be handled in the American market by HBG’s Client Services Group.

The number of titles available in the U.S. will be reduced to reflect the downsizing in the U.K. list. That list will focus on food and wine and move away from areas where it said it has no opportunity for growth in a tightening market for certain types of illustrated and reference books. Selected titles will be supported by freelance marketing programs. Octopus USA was launched in January 2009.
