The AAUP has struck a deal with NetGalley to offer the company's services to its members at a discount. NetGalley, which allows publishers to send digital galleys and press kits to reviewers and members of the media, will cost university presses different amounts, pending on the number of titles the press publishes. Through the deal, however, all AAUP members receive at least a 10% discount on the monthly cost of the subscription service.

AAUP electronic and strategic initiatives director Brenna McLaughlin said that "digital galleys are an important new tool for university presses and NetGalley’s elegant solution can offer our members savings in both time and money along with the chance for their books to reach a wider array of reviewers and buyers."

With NetGalley, which is free to readers, galleys and press kits can be downloaded to desktops as well as a wide array of digital readers. The service also provides publishers with information about who's accessing their titles.
