There were no big publishing scandals over the long holiday weekend, but that doesn’t mean publishing was on vacation. There was good news and bad news.
On the up side, at least for would-be e-reader owners, Sony has entered the ongoing price war, dropping the prices on its whole line of e-readers so as not to be totally outdone by Kindle and Nook.
On a heavier note, Christopher Hitchens is canceling his book tour to undergo cancer treatment, according to Men’s News Daily, which cites an announcement from his publisher, Twelve.
There was much compelling book coverage, though, including the SF Chronicle’s profile of Vendala Vida and her new novel, which the paper notes is her first not ”about characters who are eight to 10 years younger than she.”
