Lots of stuff going on today. Here’s what we’re reading...

In honor of independence day, The Huffington Post has been celebrating independent publishing all week, with features on indie publishers and booksellers. They’re capping off the series with a piece about readers favorite indie books. In other roundup news, Amazon published its top ten best books of 2010 so far, plus ten more recommendations in several categories--sure, it’s an advertisement for stuff Amazon wants you to buy, but it’s nonetheless interesting to see what Amazon likes so far. And here’s one more roundup--best new literary magazines, according to The Independent.

There’s also lots of tech news about the rumored rise and fall of gadgets. While Amazon has secured a patent for a dual-screen e-reader (according to eBookNewser), the makers of the COOL-ER e-reader are apparently going under (says TeleRead). Hello and goodbye. Also, unsurprisingly, James Patterson is the first writer to sell more than 1 million e-books, according to AFP.
