Pet publisher TFH Publications and Discovery Communications announced the five-year renewal of their co-branding Animal Planet print publishing program this week. The companies also added two new series.

The first new series is Animal Planet Complete Guide books, which address specific pet topics. The first of these books pubs next month: Animal Planet Complete Guide to Dog Care, a $24.95 hardcover. The second new line is Dogs 101, a series based Animal Planet's TV show of the same name. Six breed-specific Dogs 101 titles will be released this year, beginning in July. They will be priced at $15.95 and be full-color and 144 pages with a hidden-spiral binding.

The North-American deal, which is for print rights only, was brokered on behalf of Animal Planet by its licensing agent, the Joester Loria Group. The Animal Planet Pet Care Library series debuted in 2007. So far 57 books have been published, selling more than 1.4 million copies.
