The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) has announced a new program for IBPA member publishers that will provide access to Ingram’s wholesaling and marketing programs. While IBPA believes the agreement will provide benefits to all members it will be particularly helpful to presses who are not currently working with the company.

For IBPA members who have less than 10 books in print--the minimum number to qualify for distribution by Ingram--the new program will provide access to Ingram’s distribution system provided that books meet certain standards (like having an ISBN). “Having books available through Ingram significantly levels the playing field for our publishers,” said Florrie Binford Kichler, IBPA president.

The agreement also gives presses the chance to be included in Ingram’s print and electronic catalogues. IBPA publishers already using those programs can get an association discount.
