Part of the Canadian distribution company H.B. Fenn and Company, which began bankruptcy proceedings last month, will have new life as an imprint with McClelland & Stewart.

Jordan Fenn, former publisher of Toronto-based Key Porter Books, has joined McClelland & Stewart. Key Porter was owned by H.B. Fenn and suspended operations in January. Fenn brings with him the line of hockey books that Key Porter and the Fenn imprint of H.B. Fenn had built with ties to the NHL, the NHL Players Association, Hockey Canada, and the International Ice Hockey Federation.

McClelland & Stewart president and publisher Doug Pepper announced yesterday that Fenn would begin work immediately as the publisher of Fenn/McClelland & Stewart Ltd. Imprint. The newly created imprint will publish a book on the National Hockey League’s 2011 Stanley Cup Championship in June and more hockey titles are scheduled for this fall and 2012.

“I am excited to welcome Jordan to McClelland & Stewart as a publishing partner. McClelland & Stewart is enthusiastic about the opportunity to help ensure the ongoing publication of, and grow the readership for, this successful hockey book program in Canada and the U.S.,” said Pepper.

Fenn commented, “I am truly looking forward to this unique and exciting opportunity, and sincerely thank M&S for their enthusiasm and commitment to this new imprint and relationship.”

McClelland & Stewart has a more than 100 year history in Canada and is best known as the publisher of some of Canada’s literary stars such as Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, and Leonard Cohen.
