On Tuesday, Macmillan launched The Daily Reader, a blog and social media project designed to link books with breaking news and current events. Through the blog and its Facebook and Twitter pages, readers will be able to have book discussions in the context of global, national, and local events.
Each week, lead blogger Amanda Hirsch will write two longer blog posts discussing the most interesting news stories, as well as shorter posts which are mainly book recommendations by a subject of current interest. The goal of the project is to help readers discover engaging and newsworthy books, and book recommendations will come from all publishing houses.
