Alexis Welby has been appointed to director of publicity of G. P. Putnam’s Sons and Jynne Dilling Martin has been appointed to director of publicity for Riverhead Books, both new positions. The formation of two separate publicity teams, will maximize the publicity potential of both publishing lists going forward, said Marilyn Ducksworth, senior v-p and director of publicity for Penguin to whom Welby and Martin will report. They will begin their new roles September 6.

Welby is mvoing to Putnam from Simon & Schuster where she was associate director of publicity, while Martin is joining Riverhead from Random House where she also was associate director of publicity. In making the announcement, Ducksworth, said, “she was confident that Welby and Martin "will work closely with the existing talent in their departments to identify and deliver new publicity opportunities for our commercial and literary writers. Our goal is to continue to have the best creative publicity experts sharing our commitment to our authors and working closely with writers to achieve top-notch publishing results.”
