Prometheus Books has announced the launch of Seventh Street Books, a new mystery and thriller imprint, with titles expected in fall/winter 2012–2013. Dan Mayer has been named editorial director of the imprint, joining Prometheus Books with over 20 years of experience in the book business, most recently as the mystery buyer for Barnes & Noble.
Prometheus entered the genre fiction market in March 2005 when it launched the Pyr imprint for science fiction and fantasy and its success prompted Prometheus to look for another genre to enter. “I’m looking forward to what by all accounts is a dream job. A new imprint devoted to mystery and thriller fiction is ripe with possibilities,” said Mayer.
Prometheus plans to do 10-12 titles for the Seventh Street Books's launch, with 20-24 titles per year initially and 32-35 in following years. The books will be released in trade paper and in all retail e-book formats, including Kindle, Nook, Sony, iBooks, Kobo and Mobi.
