Weinstein Books, which has been in limbo since publisher Judy Hottensen decamped in August 2011 for a position at Grove/Atlantic, finally has a new editorial team in place. Georgina Levitt has been named publishing director of the division, while Amanda Murray comes on as editorial director.

Questions about the fate of Weinstein Books have swirled since 2009, when reports surfaced about financials troubles the Weinstein Brothers were facing. Those rumors were somewhat quelled when the division signed a distribution pact with Perseus in October 2009. Levitt is coming to the position at Weinstein from within Perseus, leaving her post at Vanguard Press, as associate publisher, for the job. Murray is arriving from Simon & Schuster, where she was a senior editor. Levitt begins next week while Murray started yesterday.

Speaking to the future of the division, which has published books like Raquel by Raquel Welch and Benjamin Mee's We Bought a Zoo, David Steinberger said: "We’re proud of the bestselling track record of Weinstein Books, and confident that this new publishing team has the skills to build on that success."
