Midpoint Trade Books is launching a new program to help overseas publishers and book packagers create a U.S. presence more economically than setting up an entire U.S. operation. Through Midpoint Plus publishers from down under and across the Pond, like Carroll & Brown which signed in March, can add U.S. branches by establishing an imprint. Midpoint Plus handles U.S.-based publicity and marketing efforts to establish a domestic presence, while Midpoint distributes books to the U.S.

Explains Midpoint CEO Eric Kampmann: “This affords Midpoint the opportunity to work with wonderful books, and Carroll & Brown now will be able to establish its own imprint and identity in the U.S.” Under the program, Carroll & Brown will be able to republish it bestselling title, The Pregnancy Bible by Dr. Keith Eddleman and Dr. Joanne Stone, which has sold one million copies worldwide and 250,000 in North America, under its own name in the U.S. and Canada next year. Through Midpoint Plus it will release a second title by Eddleman and Stone, My Pregnancy and Birth, along with three other books in fall 2012.

Carroll & Brown publisher Amy Carroll calls Midpoint Plus, “a fantastic opportunity for the company to present its list as a coherent whole and to build its readership in the U.S. and Canada.” Currently its books are available from a number of U.S. publishers, including HarperCollins, Penguin, and St. Martin’s Press.

Other publishers that have signed on to date to Midpoint Plus include MWellA, which will release its first U.S. book in July, and Maxwell Stone Publishing, which will do its first book here in September.
